T.O.C. Newsbrief October 2009

Hi TOC members - here is the usual monthly Newsbrief a little later than hoped. News is a little sparse this month, but at least we are communicating .

All comment /feedback welcomed please.

Spares take up and invoicing

The track rod and draglink springs purchased for Club stock seem to be selling well. I am worried that stocks will be exhausted prior to my necessary purchase!

Newsletter/magazine

It is with much regret that we hear from David that he would like to stand down from the committee post of Magazine Editor as from the next AGM. This means we are seriously looking for interested person/s to be nominated for this position. Can you help?

Recent help and assistance

I recently was able to advise Bob Cooper on some simple tips to get his 3 door up and running again. I was pleased that Bob was able to understand and act upon my thought processes, which resulted in getting the car back on the road again with some reliability of starting!

Jonty Tripp's car

We understand that the Trojan drop tail car that was owned by Jonty Tripp, has now been purchased by a gentleman in Cyprus, initial contact has been made to ensure we do not lose site of this interesting vehicle

Dutch Trojan Utility recently for sale

I am please to report that this car ( Ex Jan Miejer, who had owned the vehicle for many years) has been purchased by Mike Morgan of Banff , Scotland. Mike has just joined the club, and he is very welcome. Lets hope Mike is able to get this vehicle up and running again!

Brian Hounsfield Duple bodied car

Brian, who purchased this car some 27 year ago from myself, has recently made a warranty claim and asked me to take a look at the engine as it is now very difficult to start and runs poorly. Following assessment we have decided to get the XL engine rebored. I know that has had the XL engine cylinders honed true, I may well investigate this option prior to removing the cylinder screwed head plugs.

Venue for AGM

The committee is actively seeking a suitably intertesting venue for the next AGM in April next year. We have some suggestions, but are looking or for more ideas to evaluate, do you have any suitable suggestions???? Key criteria will be: reasonably central for members; preferably have lunch facilities; have comfortable room with seating up to 50 persons at a reasonable hire rate; ample car parking; preferably something of interest with a transport scheme, i.e., road , rail, ship, canal etc.. SUGGESTIONS WELCOMED PLEASE

2010 Club Events

These are currently under review but will be sure to feature the following: January gathering at Carl's home; The AGM; and by popular demand the two-stroke Rally again at Gaydon. There will, of course ,be our usual format of friendly social events, date and venues yet to be decided.

Any feedback comments or vehicle restoration progress/news would be welcome.

Regards

Phil
