T.O.C. Newsbrief November 2009

Hi TOC members, I hope this newsbrief find most of us in reasonable health, still able to invest sometime and interest in Trojan related matters despite the turn to colder weather.

Feedback from last Newsbrief

Mail was received from John Brown, Bruce Young, Carl Tantum, Chris Piercy, Chris Tordoff and John Mills. Thank you all for your various comments and suggestions - a number of AGM venues were suggested especially by John Brown and Chris Tordoff. The committee are still actively pursuing this to find an interesting and central to membership venue.

Chris Piercy I understand is on his travels to down under and intend to look up TOC members in Australia and we look forward to hearing of his experiences with this.

Future Events

1.    Winter gathering at the home of Carl Tantum in January 2010 .... Social and Archive Review.

2.    Amongst other ideas is that there will be two items based on the Club archives.

       i.    Bob Adams is bringing as many representative samples of the archive as he can fit in the car. Some is still unidentified and members are invited to browse and make comments, suggestions (rude or otherwise).

ii.   Bob has devised a quiz which needs a little knowledge of Trojaning, a little deduction, a little lateral thinking, a little tease and a lot of fun! Choose a partner with these abilities.

From my perspective I hope that Bob includes many of the unidentified photo in the archive which need information of their content. These may prove very interesting and I am certain we find some vehicles in these photos that are not present in our register of vehicles! Further detail to follow in the magazine shortly

Another Trials event near Bath 28th November 2009

Just to let members know that both Steve Potter and John Wilton have entered the Bristol Motor Clubs 'Allen Trial' an event that has taken place annually for the last 40 years . This is an event that is ideal for the Trojan with just the right amount of severity to make the event interesting and for the Trojans to achieve an excellent result ............ Any spectators ?

New members

New member Mike Morgan form Banff in Scotland has been communicating with Christine and I regarding various facets of Trojan design eccentricity. This has been very interesting and informative for Mike. Mike is keen to seek follow Trojan members in Scotland - according to records these will be very difficult to find. Peter Bryant from Worthing has recently bought Theo Gillam's 1954 Minibus and has also joined the Club.

Website

I need to find some time with our Webmaster Nigel to add various new features to the site. As the evenings are now colder the thought of the cold garage is less attractive and I should be able to give this some further attention . Your suggestions still welcome .

New road springs

Steve Potter and John Wilton have just had some new front and rear road springs re-manufactured at some expense. Perhaps members will be interested as to how successful these have been. Your comments Steve?

Found in Ireland

David Vincent has had contact from a potential new member in Southern Ireland who has recently acquired what appears to be a Trojan Utility that he claims to have been stored for 42 years. He has given a chassis number of 10052 which David Hambleton thinks is 1927. David has also asked them to send any history they have of the car particularly photos for the newsletter and magazine.

Trojans for sale on Ebay

Member Brian Bowles 1925 Utility was up for sale on eBay recently as were several Trobikes. I am not sure whether Brian managed to find a new home for his vehicle. Brian perhaps you could kindly let us know and who the new owner may be please. Thank you
