T.O.C. Newsbrief May 2009
To all members - following the recent AGM which was a super event I am writing to you with a new Club Committee responsibility, i.e. that of Club Development Officer. John Woods unfortunately has had to stand down from this post due to other commitments. We thank him for his innovative thinking in the last year, much of which has been implemented via committee meetings.
> The AGM went to plan with Chris Tordoff being voted in as the new Honorary Secretary. It was good to see Peter and Frankie Redman in their Trojan, driving to the event from Petersfield. We once again received a donation in support of this event from our new Patron, Peter Agg. Thank you Peter.
> Member Mike Reed has recently published , in conjunction with the Trojan Trust his first of a series of books.. These are available from Mike and will be advertised on the website in the near future
> As the new Club Development Officer I note we have 87 members and 70 to 80 vehicles worldwide. What should our strategy be for the future?
> GAYDON 24th May. The committee are particularly anxious about Trojan vehicles attending this event. To date we have only three two-stroke Trojan cars. Whilst I know that many entries arrive very close to the event, please make every effort to support the first event of its kind.
> Further events, are planned, ie the Hampshire Rally at HMS Victory in Portsmouth Dockyard, then the Oxford and Wiltshire summer rallies.
> We welcome several new members recently, some who do not have vehicles, but retain fond memories of years gone by, and in one case especially for Senior vans!
> A reminder, SUBSCRIPTIONS are now due, please send to Christine as soon as possible. This is particularly important as the Club has to make a significant purchase in the near future to support the magazine production. Thanks.
> Member Mr Rabiger from the USA, continues with his search for Trojan EV99, he is now in liaison with the DVLA who look like they may be able to assist, for a fee !!. We look forward to hearing from Michael on this subject !
> Please note that with John Wilton's assistance, the Club has received various chain drive spares from Don Williams. These are now with Dave Vincent in the clubs store .
> The Potters and John Wilton recently completed the Land End Trial . Nigel Welch the Clubs website guru foolishly followed the cars for the event, including the night section. Nigel has already added some photo to the website, some movie footage and text will also be added at some point.
Just a simple brain teaser at the end. Whilst travelling abroad recently, I found a two-stroke vehicle still being used today that has a lever/ handle starting mechanism very similar to the Trojan. It also can run on LPG and can be very smoky and smelly! any ideas ?????
All feedback appreciated to pa.potter@btinternet.com
Thank you, Phil
