T.O.C. Newsbrief June 2009
Hello TOC members - Here is my 5th news brief, hope it is of interest.
Subscriptions
Christine will be pleased to receive 2009/10 subscription which are now overdue, (currently £15.00 ) there will be a reminder in the newsletter. Your attention to this very important area would be appreciated.
Recent Gaydon Two-stroke Event
Wow, what a first event. From the fear some weeks before of very few entries, we ended up with around 55 vehicles! All attendees seemed extremely pleased with the day, and especially the weather. There are a number of reports/photos in the May/June newsletter and in events section of the TOC website. Any feedback on the event welcomed. We anticipate there will be various articles in several motoring publications in the near future. Carl has had a wealth of written positive comments. Thanks Carl for a super event.
Whilst at Gaydon I met with Bill Cooper who attended in Jonathan Woodhead's three door Tourer, a car not seen on the road for many years. Well done Bill. I was also impressed with the Trojan Trust display stand, where do you store it all David?
I had the pleasure and opportunity to drive Bob Adams utility. Having sorted the engine and peripherals some time ago with Steve, I was pleasantly suprised just how well the engine was performing now, an excellent drive go anywhere type of reliability!!
Chris Tordoff, Club Secretary had his first drive ever in a Trojan in Richard Potters Trojan Utility. (Ex Patrica Stocken car). Chris has been restoring the ex Joe Pigeon Trojan, but has never driven it !( its been off the road since before the war !). I was also please to see there David Crossley who is making good progress with the restoration of the other Achilles saloon
Trojan EV 99
Just an update here. Michael Rabiger is still searching for his Trojan EV 99. An enquiry to the DVLA has not provided any further information to date. I believe Bob Adams may be compiling an archive article from our records which hopefully will stimulate some memories !
Forthcoming club events
The Newsletter should be with you very shortly, please pay particular attention to the entry form requirements for the
> Hampshire Rally (June 28th) visiting HMS Victory, in Portsmouth Dockyard, there is a deadline for their return.
> Oxford Rally (July 26th)
> Wiltshire Rally (September 6th) - normally very popular !
Entry forms will be in the newsletters for both of these events, and all dates on the website, hopefully along with down loadable entry forms if required. I also believe some club members and their cars will be representing us at the VSCC celebrations in September this year.
TOC Website
There has been several improvements and updates to the website this month, all aimed at keeping our widespread membership informed re happenings in the Trojan world so to speak. Would members appreciate to be notified automatically when additions where made? This can be arranged if this is not regarded as further junk mail in your in-box . Your thoughts/comments appreciated please. The hit rate at people looking at the website has risen dramatically recently, just prior to Gaydon. Hits continue at a steady rate which is good and healthy. Thanks for the continued work, Nigel. Is there anything else members would like to see on the website ?????
Newsletter production
It is rumoured that the newsletter production has moved into the 21st century. I understand that David has purchased, with the committees approval, a digital laser copier. We hope this will assist David with his task and at some point will also allow the newsletter to be easily presented on the website. Hope all is going to plan David!
Richard Franklin
has purchased from the club stores a set of good condition bolt on solid wheels and tyres. Rumours are that he will use these on the Oxford Rally, have you tried them yet Richard ?
Progress on six wheeler.
Steve Simpson, can you kindly give us an update of the build please?
With best wishes
Phil Potter - Club Development Officer
