T.O.C. Newsbrief July 2009
Hi everyone, I do hope this NewsBrief and communication finds members fit and well and hopefully just generally enjoying Trojans in some way.
Communication
The prime purpose of a NewsBrief was to establish regular communication with members and hopefully promote some two-way traffic between myself and others with happenings that are worthy to be added in this NewsBrief. To date responses are still at a low level but will hopefully improve as time goes by and members get more familiar with e-mail etc etc. I hope so. COMMENTS welcome.
Hampshire Rally
The excellent Hampshire Rally took place last Sunday with lunch on the outskirts of Portsmouth then a busy drive to HMS Victory in the HM Dockyard for a tour around this interesting ship. The highlight for me was the gathering in the ships wardroom for tea and cakes. This area is very special and all felt privileged to be enable to assemble there. Our thanks go to Steve, Richard and John for the organisation.
Oxford Rally
I understand that Richard and David have the organisation in hand and you will shortly be receiving information and entry forms in the post for this event.
Wiltshire Rally 6th Sept
Christine and I are organising this event and we hope that we can exceed the 17 vehicles that attended last year, 20 would be great. Carl and David Vincent will need some extra drivers to achieve this I feel !! The day will again start at our home 'Maples' in Ansty for coffee, we will then proceed to the Emblems Restaurant where we have this venue exclusively for the TOC. After lunch will be an interesting road run and quiz followed by tea at the local village hall. Entry forms will shortly be on the website and also be with the next newsletter. We hope to see you there.
The name 'David'.
Not sure that I wish my name was David, as we have two Davids that both own rear engined Trojan vehicles. Dave Vincent who has the ex Eric Rance vehicle, now up and running and the David Hambleton who is threatening to have his roadworthy for use at the forthcoming Oxford Rally. I have yet to get my thought processes around these vehicles, being used to the simplicity of the Utility !!!!
John Wilton's BH engine
I understand the John has the ex Scroggs BH engine out for checking and general refurbishment to ensure all is up together for the new Trials season. This is an interesting engine as its probably the only one that has been re-sleeved to my knowledge.
Carl Tantum's Achilles
Have you ever wondered what make some engines/vehicles go so well? I have always asked this question re Carl's Achilles. I remember rebuilding this engine for Carl probably in 1976, with the assistance of Ivor Harrison, my stepfather. So some thirty years later it is probably just run in so to speak. Anyway it is a pleasure to know that a Trojan PH engine can start and go so well consistently, truly a racing model !!!
Membership renewal status
Last years final membership total was 95. To date this membership year Christine has received 77 renewals. Just a few more to go then, plus some more to make the magic target of 100 never before achieved in the Clubs history !!!!
Christopher Piercy
Welcome back from Canada Christopher, we look forward to seeing you at forthcoming events if possible.
Website/archive
Webmaster Nigel has been extremely busy of late but plans to further update the website in the very near future. Both Nigel and Bob Adams are currently considering how we can store and retain club archive detail electronically so we can access this via the website. We are also looking into how to get the newsletters added to the website as well as well, but it all takes time, knowledge and patience.
Spares track rod springs
With the assistance of Chris Tordoff and John Wilton the club has now in stock new track rod and draglink end springs for prewar cars. A set for a car is around £11.00, a good investment for such an important steering component. Contact Dave Vincent accordingly please.
Trojan EV 99
Michael Rabigers search for his past Trojan EV 99 continues I believe, any further news Michael ?
With best wishes, happy Trojaning !!!
