T.O.C. Newsbrief - January 2010

Dear fellow members of the TOC,

May I wish all a very Happy New year. Lets hope we all maintain our health in the coming year in spite of the current cold spell. I am sure this cold weather now will mean we are in for a super summer - lets hope so.

Varous items of interest this month in the world of Trojans, so here goes............

Future Events

January Social Event...January 17th. To date we have around 28 persons attending which is great. Carl has considered current travel implications. These will be reconsidered Tuesday and a decision made as to whether its sensible to continue with the event. My feeling is, and I travel a lot is that , it will be ok to continue unless there is worsening of the travel conditions. We hope we will be OK !!!

Annual General Meeting.

This will take place at the RAF Museum Hendon, North West London, adjacent to the MI motorway. Thanks to Chris Tordoff's help and persistence with this venue. Entry forms/detail will be available on the website /and it the magazine shortly.

Next committee meeting

For the current committee please note the next date is February 28th.

Website....

With the assistance of Nigel our Webmaster, you will find that the site has now been vastly updated with new topics to keep your interest. One feature is the addition of the current known cars listing in the general area. There is an easily usable feature here for members to update the records of their vehicles. It would be appreciated if you can take a look at the details and advise accordingly please.

Hopefully browsing the site should be easy, we hope. There is lots to look at now.

Irish car

I have recently spoken with James Bergin in Eire. He was pleased to allow publication of the pictures of his new acquisition on the website. Hopefully, James has purchased the black book manual he needed as there was one for sale on eBay this week (Richard Potter advised me us on this). Jim, we look forward to seeing your progress from time to time to publish in the magazine and website. Please communicate if you need help, sometimes things Trojan related are a little baffling.

Trojans in Trials update.

Both Steve Potter and John Wilton were both entered in this last weekend MCC Exeter Trial. You wil not be surprised this event was cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions. Perhaps both teams here were secretly pleased. Sometimes -10c overnight is a little uncomfortable. However the Stroud clubs Cotswold Cloud trial entry forms have just arrived by email which we hope to get an entry in(First Sunday in Feb). Hopefully Webmaster Nigel will find time at some point to edit the video footage he took last year at the Lands End Trial and post on the website. We, the trials people look forward to seeing this.

Vehicle Change of Ownership

We heard from long standing member John Brown this week that he has now sold his Utility. Sorry to hear this John. We do hope that you remain a member for some considerable years yet. The car has been purchase by Tony Stevens, another keen VSCC member. Tony has this week joined the TOC and we welcome him and look forward to still seeing NR around and about at our and other events.

Committee vacancies for next year

We have a potentially serious position arising in the near future that we will not have a magazine editor. It is important that we maintain this communication and the thought of not being able to produce this regularly concerns me greatly. For those members that have some skills in this area please seriously consider whether you can help in some way. Nominations for all posts are requested please.

Well, that is all for this month

Hope to see or hear from everyone soon.
