T.O.C. Newsbrief December 2009
Hello T.O.C members
It's already very near to Christmas. The year has gone so fast for me !
May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year. Hopefully we will all remain in good health for 2010 and the future. We look forward to ensuring the Club continues actively joining together all those persons who have interests in Trojan related matters, specially by mastering new technologies to support those of Leslie Hounsfield and others in the distant past!
Thanks to David Hambleton for the very interesting Newsletter. I am sure all members really appreciate this regular treat.
Irish car pictures
I was sent some super pictures via e mail of the car found recently in Eire. With Mr Bergin's permission I will seek to add these to the website for all to view. Very interesting they are to. This looks like a 1926 vehicle that has been unknown to the club. Although lots of work, it will be a very interesting project to rebuild.
Future Events
1. January Social
By now you will have received your invitation/entry form for the January social event at Carl's home in Bordon, Hampshire. This has been a super midwinter indoor event, providing an excellent atmosphere for a good lunch and tea. It is an ideal opportunity for a good chinwag along with some simple entertainment for all. YOUR ATTENDANCE WELCOMED.
2. Annual General Meeting
I believe it is confirmed that the 2010 AGM will be held at The RAF MUSEUM Hendon, North London. Hopefully the more central location will ensure more members may be able to attend. Details to follow in the near future.
Committee Vacancies for 2010
I have some serious concerns that there will be a number of committee vacancies for 2010, these being to my knowledge, Newsletter Editor, Treasurer and Membership secretary and Events Secretary .
The club needs these vacancies to be filled. Please seriously consider if you are willing to help in anyway. A call to any current committee member would be appreciated.
General subjects
I hear that Brian Bowles has decided not to sell his Utility now, hoping to get it back on the road next year and possibly attend some events. Brian, I look forward to meeting you !
American tyres 4.75/5.00 x 19
For those who perhaps have some American contacts I can confirm that Lucas Tyres have some very good value tyres at $50 each ex works USA.
Two stroke thoughts............. I recently collected some coal from the local coal merchant here in my part of the world. The owner was immediately no where to be found. Investigating further in the yards sheds I found the proprietor buried under the bonnet of one of his THREE Commer two-stroke lorries. I was wondering, thinking of the clubs next two-stroke rally at Gaydon, will he bring all three ?
Well that's all for this year. I hope the regular newsbriefs have been useful and informative in 2009.
I would appreciate your feedback that I, or another member should continue with these next year.
With best wishes
Phil P
