Events for 2009

April 19th - is the AGM at the Mid Hants Railway. Responses to the already circulated lunch menu need to be sent /communicated to Steve Potter soonest please.

May 24th - is the first Two stroke rally at Gaydon. Entry forms were sent out in the newsletter at the end of March. Please seriously consider supporting this event, we need to put a good show on here. We have the opportunity to gain some super publicity, interest and to gain some new members. To date we have entries from other three stroke marques including Wartburg, Messerschmidt and Saab.

June 28th - The Hampshire rally will including something different with a visit to HMS Victory in the dockyard Portsmouth, with hopefully parking adjacent to this historic ship. More details to follow soon via newsletter and website.

Location of known Trojans - Last month I mentioned that I did not know who owned or where the ex Richard DeLa Rues car now resided!, Member Brian Bowles kindly e-mailed to tell me that he now owned the vehicle and it was up and running and happy in a warm dry garage. Thanks for responding, Brian.

Member Michael Rabiger - who now resides in Chicago, USA, has written and provided some interesting photos, with fond memories of Trojan vehicle EV 99 that he once owned. This is known to various Trojan members as the multi bodied Trojan that could be either a van or tourer. We believe it was last seen in the 1980s, then owned by Mr Dennis Digby. Can anybody help with locating this vehicle please? Both Michael and the registrar would be delighted to know its whereabouts.

Trojan 'Trials'

>  John Wilton and Steve Potter recently competed in the Mechanics Trial, organised by the Stroud and District Motor Club, an excellent not too taxing event. I was pleased and surprised to receive in the post from Phil Heading two full page colour pictures of Steve's Utility whilst competing featured in the 'Stroud Today' magazine. Thank you Phil.

>  This Easter weekend sees the same two cars competing in the MCC Land End Trial please see www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk where there is some related detail for this event - in all this will be at least 550 miles over the weekend !

Subscriptions

Just a reminder that Christine (Treasurer) would love to receive your subscription payment for the new Trojan year, early receipt is always appreciated.

My Utility now at home

I am pleased to report that my Utility 'PU' that I purchased from the auction in Essex some 3 years ago is now finally installed here in Wiltshire. I hope this will give me opportunity to continue with the refurbishment, although at a slow pace!

More rarely seen cars on the road in 2009 ?

>  It is rumoured that Martyn Wright may be rebuilding the engine for his 3 door ! Will we see it on the road this year? We hope so.

>  New member, Bill Cooper seems to have cracked the reliability problems associated with the ex Mrs Parry car, (owned by Jonathan Woodhouse) and we look forward to seeing Bill at Gaydon, well done Bill!

Website

>  Nigel Welch has again updated the website on the 7th April, so please take a look.

.    Steve Potter has written the first and second of a series of Trojan Trials articles. The known vehicle register has been further updated, especially with links to pictures of the cars.

>  Members comments/suggestions for further additions would be welcomed. A review of the website will be given live at the AGM.

With best wishes

Phil Potter, Hon Secretary
